Born and raised in Southern California to Sol and Lolline, Matthew Esguerra has enjoyed classical music since his introduction to piano lessons. He continued his education throughout college, earning Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in piano performance at CSU Long Beach and University of Missouri—Kansas City, respectively. He has worked as a choir accompanist at Beckman High School, as a private instructor at Opus119 School of Music, and as a freelance collaborator with various musicians throughout Orange County and Los Angeles.

Matthew became more involved at Saint Thomas More Catholic Church through various ministries: liturgical and music ministry, Holy Spirit prayer group, young adult core team, and more. He began his discernment for the priesthood in November 2024 after hearing Rev. Eugene Lee’s homily on his own vocation. After much prayer and spiritual direction, he has decided to join the Premonstratensian community at St. Michael’s Abbey, where he will begin his formation on the 27th of August 2026.
